SCCF Orchestra Auditions

Join a supportive youth orchestra for young musicians ages 7–20.

Rolling Auditions • Applications Accepted Year-Round

SCCF Orchestra is a community youth orchestra. We welcome students from diverse musical backgrounds to grow through ensemble rehearsals, orchestral training, and community performances.

Who Can Audition

We welcome students ages 7–20 who play:

  • String instruments

  • Woodwind instruments

  • Brass instruments

  • Chinese traditional instruments

Rehearsal Schedule

  • Rehearsals are held twice per month on weekends or on Sunday afternoons. 

  • Each rehearsal is approximately 1.5 hours. 

  • Accepted members will receive the rehearsal calendar before the season begins.

Performance Opportunities

SCCF Orchestra typically presents: 

  • Community concerts

  • Cultural events

  • Special SCCF performances

Students are encouraged to actively participate in rehearsals and performances throughout

the season.

Audition Requirements

Applicants should prepare: 

  • One 2-octave major or minor scale. 

  • Two unaccompanied solo excerpts (approximately 1 minute each) . Memorization is not required; sheet music is permitted. 

  • Sight-reading may be included during the audition. 

  • The audition process is intended to help us understand each student’s current playing level and ensemble readiness.

Audition Process

  • Qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule an audition.

  • Auditions are held by appointment at our rehearsal venue.

  • The rehearsal venue will be announced prior to the start of rehearsals.

Optional / Can be submitted later

Scale and solo piece names are optional at registration. Students will later be asked to prepare one scale, two contrasting solo excerpts, and may be asked to sight-read a short piece.
