President’s Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA)
About the Program
The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is a national honor that recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding commitment to volunteer service. Through presidential recognition, the program encourages citizens to live a life of service and civic engagement.
How It Works
The PVSA recognizes U.S. citizens and lawfully admitted permanent residents who complete the required number of volunteer service hours within a 12-month period, or through cumulative lifetime service. Award levels are based on total service hours achieved.
The Sacramento Chinese Culture Foundation (SCCF) is a Certified Organization of the PVSA program and is authorized to verify and submit qualifying volunteer hours for award consideration.
Impact & Outcomes
Volunteers who serve through SCCF-sponsored or SCCF-collaborated activities may qualify for PVSA recognition. These activities include, but are not limited to:
-
Performing arts and music programs for community members and seniors
-
Volunteer service at nursing homes and senior living facilities
-
Participation in SCCF’s annual East & West Health Fair
-
Support for cultural, educational, and community outreach events
Through these efforts, volunteers not only contribute meaningfully to the community, but also receive national recognition for their service and dedication.
Looking Ahead
SCCF encourages individuals of all ages to participate in volunteer service and build a long-term record of civic engagement. By volunteering together, we strengthen our community and foster a culture of service, compassion, and leadership.
