About the Orchestra

Founded in 2017, the Sacramento Chinese Culture Foundation Orchestra (SCCFO) brings musicians together through Western, Chinese, and cross-cultural music. Through ensemble rehearsals and public performances, members develop their musical skills, build confidence, and experience the joy of making music together.
Beyond the rehearsal room, SCCFO connects with the community through cultural celebrations, local concerts, and outreach performances. Our program encourages teamwork, cultural appreciation, and meaningful community service through music.

Who Can Audition
Rehearsal Schedule
Performance Opportunities
Audition Requirements
We welcome students ages 7–20 who play:

String instruments
-
Woodwind instruments
-
Brass instruments
-
Chinese traditional instruments
-
Rehearsals are held twice per month on weekends.

Each rehearsal is approximately 1.5 - 2 hours.

Accepted members will receive the rehearsal calendar before the season begins.
SCCF Orchestra typically presents:

Community concerts

Cultural events

Special SCCF performances
Students are encouraged to actively participate in rehearsals and performances throughout
the season.
Applicants should prepare:

One 2-octave major or minor scale.
-
Two unaccompanied solo excerpts (approximately 1 minute each) . Memorization is not required; sheet music is permitted.

Sight-reading may be included during the audition.

The audition process is intended to help us understand each student’s current playing level and ensemble readiness.
