Term: 2023-2024
Dear SCCF Members and Community Friends,
Happy Lunar New Year!
On behalf of the Sacramento Chinese Culture Foundation (SCCF) Board, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your unwavering support and active participation. Because of you, SCCF has grown into one of the most influential nonprofit Chinese community organizations in California.
Together, we have achieved remarkable results in promoting peace, prosperity, cultural diversity, community harmony, and health in our multicultural society—at the local, regional, and national levels. I would also like to acknowledge and sincerely thank our strategic partners, including California Northstate University College, River City Medical Group – Vivant Health, UC Davis, Sutter Health, Capitol Periodontal Group, APAPA, Reliance Group, SMUD, McWong International, California Association of Acupuncture, and the Chinese American Medical Association of California, for their generous support and continued collaboration.
On behalf of the SCCF Board and the Organizing Committee of the East & West Health Fair, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all SCCF members, sponsors, institutions, organizations, vendors, clinicians, volunteers, community leaders, public officials, and community members who contributed to the success of the 2023 California Capitol Region East & West Health Fair.
Held on March 19, 2023, at the new Event Center of California Northstate University (CNU), the Health Fair brought together more than 80 local and regional healthcare organizations and vendors, and welcomed over 2,000 community members. Healthcare providers and students offered free flu vaccinations, diabetes screening, stroke education and screening, as well as vision, hearing, and dental screenings. Clinical experts in both Eastern and Western medicine also provided free onsite medical services and consultations. The event was a great success and a powerful testament to the impact of collaboration and the integration of diverse healthcare systems and cultures.
Our community has also witnessed SCCF’s continued success in promoting Chinese culture. For many years, SCCF has awarded over $20,000 annually in scholarships to local schools and students to support Chinese language and cultural education. In 2017, SCCF established its own orchestra to unite community members through music in service to the community. The orchestra’s debut performance at the opening ceremony of the East & West Health Fair was truly phenomenal. Since then, the orchestra has volunteered regularly at senior centers and nursing homes, bringing joy and comfort to senior citizens through music.
In addition, SCCF has created a meaningful platform for talented community members and volunteers across the Capital Region to discover, share, strengthen, and apply their talents in service of the community. We strongly believe that only when community members are actively engaged in service does a community truly become our community—and thrive. As an official sponsor of the U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award, SCCF is proud to help guide and inspire youth to take ownership and pride in serving their communities.
Looking ahead to 2024, SCCF remains confident and committed to working closely with our local and regional partners to continue promoting peace, prosperity, cultural diversity, community harmony, and health. We deeply value your continued support and participation as we work together to build a stronger, more caring community.
May the Year of the Dragon bring love, prosperity, health, and harmony to our families and communities.
With sincere appreciation,
